The Corporate Venture Fund is a sovereign venture capital fund under Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation which is a statutory body under Hong Kong government with the mission of building a world-class innovation and technology hub.


The Position


As an Assistant Manager of the Corporate Venture Fund, you will ensure the fund investment and operation are carried out effectively and timely. This role expects the candidate to perform the full-cycle investment activity of a VC fund but will primarily focus on post-investment management. In particular, you will be responsible for:


Post-investment management

  • Manage portfolio companies, such as monitoring and analyzing their financial and business updates, creating values eg. providing support on problem solving and fundraising independently
  • Support Follow-on investment and divestment analysis
  • Communicate regularly with the tech community, venture capital firms and investment banks


Day-to-day fund operation and regular reporting

  • Work closely with other divisions to ensure a smooth operation of the fund, including Finance, Legal, and Internal Audit 
  • Prepare regular reporting for group consolidation / management reporting / marketing / statutory purposes independently and analytical review on the fee and expenses, cashflow, fund performance and other fund related reporting
  • Lead valuation, Internal Audit, and other annual fund management exercise


Investment evaluation and execution 

  • Conduct sophisticated financial modeling, valuation and return analysis
  • Handle industry research, due diligence and other associated tasks 
  • Prepare investment memorandums, presentations and paper circulars
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors and management 


The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in business, accounting, legal, or other related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience, preferably in the area of fund operation / direct investment / accounting firms / startup or related field, CFA /CPA is an added advantage
  • Higher education or professional qualifications with less experience will also be considered
  • Excellent in research, business writing and copywriting
  • Good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and ability to work successfully cross-functionally
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines under tight schedule
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including in Putonghua)
  • Passionate in the startup ecosystem and in building Hong Kong as a world-class innovation and technology hub
