Assistant Director, Upskill Practice (for startups)
This role leads development and learning management initiatives for our high-performance startups in HKSTP’s startup ecosystem. This appointee drives development and execution of multiple initiatives helping startups to achieve tangible business growth. In the process, he/ she leads coordination and alignment with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive business outcome.
The position
- Drive continuous development and refinement of initiatives (e.g. boosters, community-led upskill initiatives) to further enhance business value to startups
- Spreadhead new initiatives/ extension of existing initiatives and develop relevant working model with stakeholders
- Manage a team to deliver the business improvement to high-performing startups, in coordinated and aligned manners with other functions/ teams
- Provide oversights to execution to ensure quality and compliance to internal processes
- Build and broadcast of relevant success stories through marketing/PR
- Deliver business results for a focused promotion of high-performing startups (“ARENA”)
- Lead execution of ARENA, including regular selection of startup candidates, preparation and staging in venue, ensuring proper curation of candidates to audience, driving visits and off-venue exposure to ARENA candidates, coordination with other teams/ departments to follow up and drive results as well as budgeting and administration
- Build ARENA brands through promotion of success stories to startups, internal and external audience
- Identify and execute further opportunities to drive business outcome for startups leveraging ARENA construct and brand
- Align and coordinate closely and continuously with internal and external stakeholders (including but not limited to start-up programme managers, co-acceleration funds, investor engagement, etc…) on actions to drive business outcome of start-ups
- Own end-to-end governance for ARENA and related initiatives, including progress tracking, performance reporting, and improvement recommendations to maximize business impact
- Perform any other duties as assigned
The Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Engineering, Entrepeneurship, Information Technology or other related disciplines
- 10 years of working experience including 5 years of experience in people management, preferably in services industry (including financial services, professional services) or product development gained from MNCs with multi-location responsibility
- Proven experience and success in delivering multiple complex service products or projects
- Exhibit passion for building start-up ecosystem for Hong Kong
- Excellent leadership and proven ability to work with all level of stakeholders including senior executives in highly-dynamic environments
- Strong knowledge of start-up development phases and acceleration means
- Uphold high standards of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct
- Good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese including Mandarin
- Higher education or professional qualifications with less experience will also be considered
