Consultant, Industry Engagement
Following the rapid development of Innovation and Technology (“I&T”), Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) is committed to developing strategies to capture the emerging opportunities and bring in benefits to the Hong Kong I&T ecosystem. We are seeking a high-caliber professional to research the technology landscape, advise on strategic business partnerships, and foster innovation. This role will serve as a gateway for technology companies expanding into Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), leveraging business development and industry engagement to advance Hong Kong's economic diversity and accelerate its transformation into an international I&T hub.
The Position
- Advise on the formulation of strategic business plans to maximize engagement and collaboration between Hong Kong and GBA
- Evaluate and enhance existing inbound and outbound programmes that support enterprises in expanding globally and exploring opportunities within the GBA
- Identify high-impact initiatives to accelerate technological innovation and enhance Hong Kong’s position as a world-class innovation hub
- Explore opportunities for strategic partnerships with counterparts in mainland China, including provincial, municipal, and district-level science and technology departments, educational institutions, and industry leaders
- Facilitate connections between tech ventures and industry experts, thought leaders, key stakeholders, and potential partners or investors to drive collaboration
- Research and analyze China's capital markets and technology landscape to identify key challenges for industries and government entities, and to explore potential opportunities
- Perform any other duties as assigned
The Candidate
- Master’s degree or above with over 15 years of experience in venture capital or private equity investment across China of which at least 5-10 years in leadership level, preferably from sizable organizations
- Established professional network across industry, academia, and government bodies in GBA
- Well understanding of provincial and local government structure with proven track-record in multi-level engagement protocol
- Exposure to new business and geographic area development with a deep understanding on China’s capital markets and technology landscape
- Familiar with Mainland China and local commercial/industrial sector with extensive business contacts
- Visionary mindset for emerging technologies and experience in technology transfer and fundraising
- Ability to translate insights into comprehensive actions particularly proficient in strategy planning and stakeholder engagement
- Process strong skills in business execution, people leadership and effectively manage and collaborate cross-functional teams for complex client issue resolution and execution on revenue generating growth strategies
- Demonstrated executive presence, presentation skills, influencing abilities and collaboration across various stakeholders
- Ability to influence and make decisions cross-functionally in a matrix environment where speed and cultural sensitivity are crucial
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English, with excellent cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills
- Travelling is required
- Higher education or professional qualifications with less experience will also be considered
