As Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data reporting directly to the Chief Ecosystem Development Officer, the candidate will be accountable for the development of the Ecosystem for AI, Data and Robotic. In this pivotal role, the candidate will act as the translator between technology, business, policy and research communities.  This Business & Technology Leadership role will help establish Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) as a leader of Hong Kong as an AI technological innovation hub.


The Position

  • Represent HKSTP as a thought leader in the AI and Data sectors, articulating insights and strategic vision to HKSTP stakeholders and industry partners
  • Lead the development of the AI and Data strategy, optimizing existing resources like High-Performance Computing (HPC), Robotic Catalysing Centre
  • Be part of the Team to attract and retain high-quality startups and scale-ups, as well as AI-focused capital and anchor enterprises into HKSTP
  • Work closely with HKSTP AI, Data and Robotic Startups and Tenants by providing necessary support and advice to spreadhead their success in the respective business journey
  • Collaborate closely with HKSTP Cluster Leaders in Green Technology, Microelectronics, Life Sciences & Health, Construction and other sectors to formulate AI, Data and Robotic based solutions that address specific industry needs
  • Drive AI adoption across the city, translating AI capabilities into real economic and societal impact
  • Foster partnerships with industry player, academia, and government agency in shaping and contributing policy recommendations on AI investment, infrastructure and ecosystems development
  • Oversee the implementation of any AI, Data and Robotic projects that taken up by HKSTP
  • Develop governance frameworks for data integrity, security, and compliance
  • Prepare necessary board papers on AI, Data and Robotic programmes and infrastructure
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


The Candidate

  • Postgraduate degree holder in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, Data Science, Machine Learning (ML) or other related disciplines
  • Minimum 15 years work experience in AI and Data Science related sectors, of which 10 years in a senior management position
  • Process a strong understand of the Global AI and Data Industry trends and opportunities, particular in Hong Kong, GBA and Asia Pacific
  • Apart from having latest strategic understanding of modern AI/ML technologies (generative AI, LLMs), big data platforms, enterprise applications, the candidate should have the ability to evaluate, position, and prioritize AI technologies in real life application across different industries sectors
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and secure the confidence and trust of stakeholders, senior leaders, and peers, through the provision of expert advice on strategy, partnership working, and collaborative project delivery
  • A proven track record of successfully leading AI and Data initiatives/projects
  • Established professional network across industry, academia, and government in Hong Kong and internationally
  • Excellent communication and written skills, with a proven track record of influencing effectively at senior level across teams and both internally and externally
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical capabilities into business value and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Experience as a confident and empowering leader who sets a clear strategic direction to deliver key priorities through teams, with a track record of motivating, developing and successfully leading a high-performing team
  • Energetic, dynamic, mature and have a flair for entrepreneurship with superior interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and external contacts
  • A good command of English and Chinese, written and verbal, with excellent presentation skills
  • Candidate with less relevant experience may be considered for a director level role
