Head of Life and Health Technology

We are now seeking a Head of Life and Health Technology to strategize, drive and accelerate the growth of HKSTP and Hong Kong as a Life and Health Technology Hub. The successful candidate will oversee the attraction and development of Life and Heath Technology companies in the park and manage a diverse portfolio of companies and the core facilities that supports them. The ideal individual will have a proven track record of success in the Life Science and Biomedical sectors, with a passion for innovation.

The Position
 

• Formulate the strategies and execution plans to expedite the translation of biomedical technologies into applications and products to make Hong Kong a preeminent life and health technology “LHT”) hub , thereby creating a new industrialization for Hong Kong
• Lead the enhancement and advancement of core facilities, be knowledgeable about the pipelines and project milestones of partner companies so as to create the needed services to expedite research and development. These services include GLP, GMP for clinical trials, and others as deemed necessary 
• Work closely with business development team to attract and engage targeted companies to set up their R&D hub in Science Park
• Develop the platform services, including, but not limited to, the required infrastructure needs (equipment, facilities / space and human resources) to support the LHT companies, and gradually creating an organic ecosystem to propel growth 
• Oversee the management and be accountable for the operations of the core facilities/laboratories in Science Park, including the budget and financial planning, resources management, certification / licensing, to ensure quality services to supporting park companies 
• Prepare board papers for the acquisition, implementation and regular updates of infrastructure/equipment/programmes 
• Responsible for the technical due diligence of companies for assisting with regulatory guidelines and IPO listing
• Oversee the due diligent studies of applicants and chair various panels for Governance and compliance management
• Initiate, plan, coordinate, and analyse studies on marketing needs and cliental requirements and enhance the customer satisfaction
• Manage a team of biotech professionals including PhD staff
• Stay abreast of latest policy in technology development, technology and industry trends and market intelligence then translate them into business opportunities 
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor

The Candidate
 

• University post graduate degree holder in Life Science / Biomedical Science / Biotechnology related disciplines 
• Minimum 15 years work experience in the biomedical technology sector, of which 10 years in a senior management position
• Energetic, dynamic, mature and have a flair for entrepreneurship with superior interpersonal skills with all levels of staff and external contacts
• A proven track record of accomplishment in the biomedical technologies field and having a professional network of contacts in the region and overseas
• Knowledge of a broad range of drug discovery, drug development, DMPK, GLP toxicology studies and animal models for drug efficacy testing and GMP manufacturing is a definite advantage
• Good understanding of the current biotech evolution and able to scout for disruptive technologies in different sub-cluster areas
• Possess global insights in biomedical research and biotechnology developments and trends  
• Effectively manage and collaborate cross-functional teams with ability to influence and make critical decisions 
• Process strong people leadership skills and able to develop both scientists and business staff
• A good command of English and Chinese, written and verbal, with excellent presentation skills
• Candidate with less relevant experience may be considered for a director level role.
