Senior Manager, University Collaborations (Tech Transfer & Venture Builder)
The Position
This role will be responsible for collaboration with both local and overseas universities, research institutions and incubators on deeptech research translations, technology transfer and venture creation / building. The candidate shall work closely with universities, research centres and institutions, incubators, venture builders and investors to plan, design, develop and execute joint programmes on deeptech translation, venture building, etc. to drive deeptech startup pipeline to HKSTP ecosystem, and to support the growth and development of the startups joining HKSTP. The candidate shall also support existing global theme-based incubation programmes with university partners, and develop new partnerships and manage relationships with both local and overseas universities. The candidate shall also work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth programme execution and operations. Responsibilities include:
- Strategize and develop non-local / overseas partners to expand co-ideation / co-incubation programmes with the partners
- Work closely with local and non-local university partners to build deeptech translation and commercialisation, technology transfer and venture building programmes / initiatives
- Manage existing and develop new Global Theme-based Incubation Programmes with local and overseas universities
- Liaison with the Ideation Programme team to ensure smooth programme execution and operation
- Provide account management / servicing supports to deeptech startups / teams admitted to the Programme
- Support landing of non-local startups to HKSTP eco-system from overseas research and university partners
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and partners to identify and develop potential programme enrichment opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
The Candidate
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Science, Engineering or other related disciplines
- 10 years of experience, preferably in startup / entrepreneurship / incubation programme management
- Prior experience in Technology Transfer Office or Entrepreneurship Centre under university environment is highly preferable
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive strategic initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a strong track record of building effective relationships with stakeholders and partners at all levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex business challenges with practical solutions
- Strong inclination and in-depth understanding of Hong Kong and regional’s innovation and technology development, including both local and global startup ecosystems across various industry verticals
- Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
- Higher education or professional qualifications with less experience will also be considered
